Worrier or Warrior

Are you a worrier or a warrior?

I have to be honest with you. Until my late 20’s, I was very
much a worrier.

Either this was in my genes or the circumstances I grew up with
resulted in this outlook on life.

I experienced the deaths of friends who were very young. One
died of leukemia and another died of a brain tumor. It seemed
that we were always running to hospitals for aging grandparents;
this created a sense of constant worry. And, of course, they
eventually passed on also.   In my house, we did not answer the
phone with “Hello.”  We actually said, “What’s wrong?”

I finally decided that I had to do something to change my
mindset.  Worrying did not result in any change in the outcome.
The only thing worrying gave me was an ulcer. I was determined
to become a warrior, someone who could handle whatever came my
way.

Do I still worry?

Of course. I’d be lying to you if I said I did not worry at all.
You can’t operate your own business without worrying to some
extent. It is normal to worry about family members on occasion.

But I try not to worry about the things I can’t control. I have
achieved pretty good success with that goal.  If I find that I
am stuck and can’t stop worrying about something, I seek out
someone to help me.

Like all good warriors, you can’t always do it alone. There are
times when you’ll need to work with strategists — mentors,
consultants, coaches — to tackle that problem.

So which one are you? A worrier or a warrior?

It’s better to approach each day like a warrior than to worry,
wither and shake in your boots.

Create for yourself the mindset that you are able to handle
anything that life throws your way. Will you come upon bumps in
the road of life, mountains that are difficult to climb? You
better believe it!  But that’s life.

You can do it!

Stay well!
