You are Valuable
Last week one of my coaching clients and I were discussing the
fact that society has a strong tendency to define a person by
his job or lack thereof.
Many times at network meetings and social events, I have been
introduced to someone who immediately says, “So, what do you do
for a living?” I think to myself, “Here we go again.”
The Good Old Days
Have you ever tried to fit a square peg into a round hole? It
doesn’t work. It can’t work. There are just some things in life
that unfortunately fall into that category.
Many of my patients, especially the baby boomers (those born
between 1946 and 1964), think that their bodies should be able
to do what they did when they were in their twenties.
The Power of the Second Opinion
For the last few weeks I have had the opportunity to treat a
very pleasant man who had unfortunately fallen on ice.
He complained of pain throughout his lower back, left hip, and
knee. When he came to my facility he was using a walker because
he could barely walk. He could not shower or dress without help.
I developed a treatment program to help him walk better and to
decrease his pain.
Failure is a Moment in Time
What are you afraid of?
I have seen people who allow fear to prevent them from
accomplishing their goals.
However, fear can be a good thing. It fosters a sense of
carefulness.
Forgiveness
Last week’s blog/broadcast created a flurry of e-mails and
responses. The broadcast was about letting go of the past. One person
wrote that we should not blame our parents for everything in
our life that is bad.
Let the Past Go
The past does not dictate the future, plain and simple.
I shared these words with my friend just the other day. He
insists on blaming his current situation on his past. It is
true that he didn't grow up in the best family environment. He
just won’t let go of the past and continues to use it as the
excuse for the present state of his life.
Half Empty or Half Full
I’m not sure when it happened. Could it be? Is it possible
that maybe, just maybe, somewhere along the course of my life, I
have become a positive person?
I don’t really see myself as a positive person— at least not as
a mountaintop-visualization type of person who is manifesting
abundance and unlocking the keys of the universe. I see myself
as a realist.
Change the Channel
I was in ninth grade when I read my first motivational book. It was Wayne Dyer’s Your Erroneous Zones. This book, as well as his other books which I subsequently read, taught me many wonderful and useful lessons.
Holiday Weight Gain
Many of my patients and clients have been complaining about
weight gain over the holiday season. The complaint is simple,
“I have gained at least 5-8 pounds and I am struggling to lose
the weight. I am exercising but the scale is not moving.”
I know many of my patients and clients were managing their
nutrition intake up until the Thanksgiving holiday. Many of the
holiday foods consist of sugar, salt and fat. This lovely
combination of ingredients is the key contributors to weight
gain.
Flu Fighters
I believe there is a direct correlation between health and
wealth.
If you are wealthy, you can afford to purchase excellent health
insurance, pay for procedures which are not covered by
insurance, buy high-quality food, and take the time to exercise
and de-stress.
What decreases the value of your wealth?
The answer is sickness and/or pain. Even wealthy folks can
experience pain and sickness.
