Attitude Defines the Day
Have you ever received the e-mail joke, “If you think your job or your life is bad, just imagine if this were you…”? Then there is a picture of a guy cleaning a high-rise on a very windy day, standing on a small scaffold.
To Dream or Not to Dream
We have heard and read time and again about the importance of
creating goals, living an abundant life, living our passion,
following our dreams, and so on.
I have dedicated numerous broadcasts to these themes.
Yet many don’t listen, for whatever reason.
Just Begin
Alexander Graham Bell said, “All glory comes from daring to
begin.”
This statement rings true (no pun intended) for many of my
patients and coaching clients.
It’s that first step – the act of beginning – that can be
the problem.
There are many excuses and rationalizations for failing to
begin work on a project, a goal, an idea, or even the
improvement of one’s health.
Please Kick Me
Do you ever feel like you have a "Please Kick Me" sign on your
back?
I remember my first experience with this sign. I was in
junior high (not a good time for me, or for many, physically)
and it was a tough school--riots, lousy lunches, and no toilet
paper.
Now is the Time
Do you ever feel time is just ticking away? At the end of the
day do you find yourself wishing you had just a few more hours
so you could do the things you want to do?
Some of my clients become frustrated because they feel that
time is slipping away from them. They go to work, return home,
clean house, make dinner, and get ready for the next day.
After all the necessary things are done, there is very little
time left and they feel exhausted.
Being Grateful
I am currently reading The Pursuit of Perfect by Tal Ben-Shahar.
In this book he describes the importance of being grateful.
He writes about the research of Robert Emmons and Michael
McCullough. These psychologists conducted a series of studies
in which they asked participants to write down at least five
things, major or minor, for which they were grateful.
Self-Confidence 101
I was speaking with my nephew before his basketball game today. His biggest concern was that he wanted a chance—a chance to handle the ball, get close to the net and take the shot.
It's Happened Again!
It's happened again. Someone has decided to issue another report
that vitamins are bad for you.
Simeon Margolis, M.D., Ph.D., a Yahoo! Health Expert for
Nutrition, reports that multivitamins are a waste of time and
money. The good doctor writes about an article featured in the
February 9 issue of Archives of Internal Medicine.
"Multivitamin use did not protect the 161,808 postmenopausal
women enrolled in the Women's Health Initiative Study from
common forms of cancer, heart attacks, or strokes. And the
The Best Exercise with the Most Benefit
Week One of the New Year has come to an end. Statistics show
that most people who have begun their New Year's resolutions
have already failed. If your resolution is not going the way
you had hoped, do not give up. Take a step back and evaluate
your resolution. Before you move forward, ask yourself, "Is my
resolution or goal realistic?" I am going to talk more about
Tangible Goal Setting in future broadcasts.
If you have resolved to lose weight and get in shape, your
One Step at a Time to a Healthier Life
As Paul Revere delivered the news that the British are coming, the British are coming, many magazines, on-line articles, and print and television advertisements will soon be delivering their warning cry, The New Year is coming! The New Year is coming!
